CNC TURNING SERVICES
CNC TURNING
Since 1974, we’ve been supplying complex machined parts to the Aerospace industry, and we have extensive experience with the requirements that components for this industry have to meet. Over the years, we’ve expanded our CNC machining capabilities by acquiring a variety of new CNC equipment. One of our major manufacturing capabilities is CNC Turning.
A QUICK OVERVIEW OF CNC TURNING
CNC Turning is a subtractive manufacturing process where material is removed from a rotating workpiece by a cutting tool to achieve the desired part shape. A computer program guides this process, allowing for high accuracy and significantly tighter tolerances.
Typically, this type of CNC machining is used to shape cylindrical or oblong-shaped components, though more sophisticated CNC turning machines can produce much more complicated shapes. Thanks to modern programming capabilities, CNC Turning equipment can produce parts with repeatable/consistent accuracy as well, and with nearly finished results–eliminating the need for secondary operations. This makes the production process far more efficient and consistent, overall.
CNC TURNING AT KESSINGTON AEROSPACE
At Kessington Aerospace, we provide state-of-the-art CNC Turning capabilities to meet the high demands of the aerospace industry. CNC Turning is a very flexible and accurate manufacturing process.
We have several different Turning centers to accommodate different sizes of parts, as well as a team of experienced and trained operators to oversee the production and ensure that parts come out finished and ready for delivery. We have experience working with a wide range of materials as well, from aluminum and stainless steel, to exotic materials, such as Inconel, Titanium, and Hastelloy.
SWISS MACHINE
Swiss Turning machines were originally developed to manufacture very small, complicated parts for watches by a Swiss company–hence the name. Their popularity grew from there until they became widespread across many industries for their ability to produce incredibly close tolerances on tiny, complex components.
Along with our many other CNC turning machines, we also maintain several Swiss lathes for very small, complicated Aerospace parts where tight tolerances are critical. Like all our other CNC equipment, our Swiss lathes are held to the AS9100 quality standards and can work with a variety of metals that are common in the Aerospace and Defense industries.
